Does this replace beatmatching by ear?
No. Bump doesn’t replace skill, it supports it.
You still control pitch, timing, phrasing, and feel. Bump simply gives you clear, accurate tempo information, so decisions happen faster and with more confidence.
Do I need one Bump for each turntable?
No. One Bump is all you need.
Bump connects via your mixer’s headphone output, so you can cue each turntable individually. By switching between channels using your mixer’s cue buttons, you can quickly check the BPM of multiple records without moving or duplicating the device.
Does it change the sound or signal of my vinyl?
No. Bump does not affect your audio in any way.
Your signal stays fully analogue, untouched, and exactly as intended.
Bump only reads tempo, it never interferes with sound.
Do I need software, a laptop, or an app?
No. Bump is a standalone hardware device.
There’s nothing to install, nothing to update, and nothing to connect beyond your setup.
Plug it in and play.
Is this only for beginners?
Not at all.
Bump helps newer DJs learn faster, but it’s just as valuable for experienced vinyl DJs who want tighter blends, quicker preparation, and more control under live conditions.
Will using Bump make my sets feel less “authentic”?
No.
Bump is designed to respect the craft of vinyl DJing. It doesn’t automate mixing or make decisions for you.
It simply removes uncertainty, so your attention stays on selection, flow, EQ, and the crowd.
Will it make me rely less on my ears?
No. If anything, it helps train them.
Seeing accurate tempo reinforces what you’re hearing, helping you build stronger intuition and timing over time.
Is this like using sync on digital decks?
No. Bump doesn’t control playback or lock tracks together. It gives you information, not automation.
Everything else is still down to you.
Can I use it for any genre?
Yes. Bump is genre-agnostic and works across common club tempos, from slower grooves to faster dancefloor records.
Is it useful for practice as well as performance?
Absolutely.
